Computer protection
Each type of threat is treated by a dedicated protection component. You can enable and disable protection components and configure their settings.
In addition to the real-time protection provided by security components, we recommend that you regularly scan your computer for viruses and other malware. This is necessary to prevent any possible spread of malicious programs that have not been discovered by the protection components; for example, because security has been set to low or for other reasons.
To keep Kaspersky Anti-Virus up to date, you need to update the database and application modules used by the application.
Some specific tasks that need to be performed occasionally (such as removing traces of user activity in the operating system) are performed using advanced tools and experts.
The following is a description of the interaction logic of the protection components when Kaspersky Anti-Virus was set as recommended by Kaspersky specialists (in other words, according to the default settings of the application).

Antivirus for files
The File Antivirus component prevents the file system from infecting your computer. The component starts the operating system, remains in the computer's RAM, and scans all open, saved, or released files on the computer and all connected drives. Kaspersky Anti-Virus intercepts any attempt to access a file and scans the file for viruses and other known malware. Further access to the file is allowed only if the file is not infected or has been successfully disinfected by the application. If, for some reason, a file cannot be disinfected, it is deleted. A copy of the file will be moved to Quarantine when this happens. If an infected file is placed in the same location as the deleted file with the same name, Quarantine saves only the copy of the last file. A copy of the previous file with the same name is not saved.

Email antivirus
Email Antivirus scans e-mails received and sent from your computer. The e-mail is only available to the recipient if it does not contain dangerous objects.

Web Antivirus
Web Antivirus intercepts and blocks the execution of scripts on websites if they pose a threat. Web Antivirus also monitors all web traffic and blocks access to dangerous websites.

Antivirus MI
MI antivirus ensures the safe use of MI clients. The component protects the information transmitted to the computer through IM protocols. MI antivirus ensures the safe operation of various instant messaging applications.

System monitoring
The System Monitor component reverts changes made by the operating system malware.

This component provides protection against malware, including:

• Exploitation
• Programs that lock the screen
• Encryption programs
• Ransomware that encrypts data or blocks access to files or the system and extorts redemption to restore or access files

Disabling this component is not recommended.

Block network attacks
Network Attack Blocker loads when the operating system starts and tracks incoming network traffic for activities that are characteristic of network attacks. When an attack attempt is detected on your computer, Kaspersky Anti-Virus blocks any network activity of the attacking computer aimed at your computer.

Anti-Phishing
The Anti-Phishing component allows you to check URLs to see if they are included in your list of phishing URLs. This component is built into Web Antivirus and MI Antivirus.

On-screen keyboard
The on-screen keyboard prevents the interception of data entered from the hardware keyboard and protects personal data against interception attempts with screenshots.

My Kaspersky
If Kaspersky Anti-Virus is installed on a computer, you can remotely manage the protection of this computer on the My Kaspersky website.

Secure connection
Kaspersky Anti-Virus protects your data when connecting to insecure Wi-Fi networks.
